Favorites-first menu bar
The menu shows only your selected favorites, in an ordered list. Each row shows the device name and a live state badge — media now-playing, lock status, temperature, and more. Most entities support one-click actions, and richer entities like climate, media, and cameras expand for full controls.
Powerful favorites management
A two-pane settings layout makes setup quick. Browse all entities with search and domain filtering — Controls, Sensors, Lights, Climate, Media, Covers, Cameras — and toggle them into favorites. Then drag and drop to reorder; the order you set is the order the menu shows.
Group favorites by area
Enable grouping and HomeGlance organizes your favorites into tabs by Home Assistant Area, sorted by name. Entities without an area appear under an Other tab, and the Favorites tab is always there. If area data is unavailable, HomeGlance gracefully falls back to the standard list.
Real-time state sync
HomeGlance connects to the Home Assistant WebSocket and subscribes to state changes. Entity rows update live as your home changes, and the connection automatically retries and reconnects after failures.
Camera live view
Expand a camera to watch a live HLS stream when available, with an automatic snapshot fallback for reliability — plus a one-click shortcut to open the camera in Home Assistant.
Secure by default
Your access token is stored in the macOS Keychain, never in plain text. HomeGlance talks directly to your Home Assistant instance — no cloud relay, no account, and no analytics SDKs or trackers. Optional debug logs are kept in memory only and always redact tokens.
